Hot or Not? Your Guide to Amalfi Coast Weather!
Amalfi Coast Weather is wonderful year round! This area has a typically Mediterranean, mild in the winter and very warm in the summer. The average temperatures in winter is 13°C while in the summer, 23°C, with the warmest months being July and August.
Be sure to check the climate before you plan your next trip to Italy. Knowing the temperature before you go helps you know what to bring. Find out what to expect in the summer or in the winter. Learn which months have the most rain as well.
I have included a link to the weather in Naples, Italy, which is the closest large city. I will be providing other links for Amalfi Coast Weather too. I will also be adding Positano weather as well, tho it is the same as Amalfi Coast weather.
Bringing an umbrella to the Amalfi Coast is always a safe bet. You never know when you will be caught by a sudden rain shower. You can also check my Positano Webcams to see the weather first hand. I have two on this site listed on the menu.

What to Bring...
A good rule of thumb is to gather together everything you want to bring; then bring half of that. Eliminate all but the essentials and start packing a few days before you leave. That way, you'll have time to think—not worry—about what you might be forgetting. Remember, too, you will probably be buying gifts and souvenirs; leave ample room for them in your luggage. Travel light so you have lots of room to bring back souvenirs like Limoncello and authentic Amalfi Coast Ceramics!
I have included a link to ebags.com I frequently shop here for not just luggage but backpacks for my kids and pocketbooks for me :)
What to Wear...
For Winter
For travel to the Amalfi Coast during the winter months, include clothes for moderate temperatures, but also take some cold weather gear—warm pants, socks, turtlenecks, fleece top or wool sweater, rainproof jacket (ideally with a zip/out insulation layer), gloves, and hat. The most practical travel wardrobe consists of items that you can wear in layers. Then you can easily add or remove a layer according to any fluctuations in temperatures. Your outer jacket should be roomy enough to comfortably fit over your sweater or fleece top. Comfortable shoes are a must in any Amalfi Coast Weather! Remember that the Amalfi Coast towns are built into a cliff so there are stairs everywhere you go.
For Summer
For travel to the Amalfi Coast during the summer months, pack an assortment of seasonal garments: short-sleeve shirts and comfortable slacks or shorts for daytime; the evenings, however, can be chilly, so bring along a cotton sweater and a fleece jacket. Again, comfortable shoes to handle all the stairs is a must and any type of Amalfi Coast Weather!
For Spring/Fall
For travel to the Amalfi Coast during the spring, pack an assortment of seasonal garments: light pieces and cotton sweaters for daytime; and slacks, long-sleeve shirts, warmer dresses, and a heavy sweater or fleece jacket for evenings. Need I mention again bringing comfortable walking shoes...you will thank me later :)
Remember Amalfi Coast Weather can fluctuate so be prepared for anything! Don't forget to bring along an umbrella for those sudden rain showers.
Rain
Regardless of your month of travel, rainfall is certainly a possibility. We suggest you bring a folding umbrella and waterproof shell. Water-resistant walking shoes are advantageous in case heavy downpours pass through.
What to Wear When Visiting Churches
To satisfy dress codes for most Italian churches, men and women will need to cover their shoulders and knees. Women wearing sleeveless shirts can cover their bare arms with a scarf; it's no longer necessary for women to cover their heads. Pantsuits are now acceptable in churches, as well as knee-length shorts. If you are traveling in cooler months, when it's unlikely that you'll want to put on shorts, the church dress code might not be an issue. However, if it's apt to be "shorts weather" when you travel, we suggest you pack a pair of light trousers and modest knee-length shorts to wear on days when church visits are featured. Women have the option of slipping on a skirt with an elastic waistband over their shorts.

"When all is said and done, the weather and love are the two elements about which one can never be sure."
~ Alice Hoffman ~
